Best Overall: Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Microfiber Mop

Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Microfiber Floor Mop...

If you want an overall reliable mop that can do just about everything and still have a reasonable price, the Rubbermaid Microfiber Mop is our recommendation for you.

This jack of all trades utilizes a high-absorbing microfiber mop head to give you the best cleaning potential. The 22-ounce refillable spray bottle saves you the hassle of carrying around a bucket or a handheld spray.

All you have to do is spray the floor and then clean using the microfiber mop. One thing we didn’t like about this mop was the spray trigger. The mechanism sometimes gets stuck, which is something we didn’t find in O-Cedar mop, our best value product.

Best Value: O-Cedar ProMist MAX Microfiber Spray Mop

O-Cedar ProMist MAX Microfiber Spray Mop, Red

Everybody wants to pay less and get more. So, O-Cedar ProMist MAX Microfiber Spray Mop is our recommended mop if you want the best bang for your buck.

Much like the Rubbermaid mop, O-Cedar comes with its own spray bottle that you can use without a bucket. However, unlike Rubbermaid mop, O-Cedar comes with a 180-degree swivel that essentially turns every mop into two.

The dual-sided mop allows you to easily continue your cleaning without having to switch your mop.

Additionally, O-cedar is around $20 cheaper than the Rubbermaid mop.

Then why wouldn’t O-cedar be our best overall then? It’s cheaper and has a double mop, right?

The lower price stems from the lack of accessories. Unlike the Rubbermaid mop, which came with 2 bottles and 3 pads, O-cedar comes without any accessories.

You do have the option to purchase it with up to 3 extra mops, but the price would surpass the Rubbermaid mop, and you still don’t get any extra spray bottles.

We also noticed a strange issue with the spray bottle. It’s made from a relatively thin plastic that seemed easy to damage. On checking some reviews, we did find some users complaining about how their bottles got punctured easily from minor damage.

Product Specs

  • Type: Spray mop
  • Mophead material: Microfiber
  • Suitable for: Linoleum and hardwood floor
  • Telescopic handle: Yes

Feature Highlights

  • Double-sided mop which allows you to use both sides for cleaning
  • Manual hand trigger for easy dispense of spray
  • Long-lasting microfiber mops that can last up to 3 months each

Pros

  • Bottles are refillable with the cleaner of your choice
  • A 180° swivel for a quick switch of the mop side
  • Relatively cheap (if you purchase the mop without accessories)

Cons

  • No accessories are included with the mop
  • The spray bottles are easy to puncture and leak

Best Budget: Bona Premium Microfiber Mop

Bona Premium Microfiber Floor Mop, Includes...

If you don’t want to spend too much money on sophisticated mops with options that you won’t use, then Bona Premium Microfiber Mop is for you.

This lightweight mop is the cheapest mop on our list, but it still performed exceptionally well on all floor types we tested.

Unlike our Rubbermaid and O-Cedar mops, the Bona mop doesn’t have an attachment for a spray bottle. You’ll have to rely on handheld spray bottles to get the job done.

However, the build quality and material made it highly reliable for a cheaper mop. The nimble hinge near the bottom also provided superior control over the mop head and allowed easy cleaning with minimum effort.

Bona also offers another bottle-supported mop with the same build quality. However, compared to the Rubbermaid, our best overall mop, the bottle-supported Bona is quite expensive if you purchase it with the accessories.

Product Specs

  • Type: Flat mop
  • Mophead material: Microfiber
  • Suitable for: Wood, vinyl, and linoleum
  • Telescopic handle: Yes

Feature Highlights

  • Simple design with a high-quality build
  • Highly absorbing microfiber mops
  • The purchase comes with a cleaning pad and a dusting pad

Pros

  • Quite affordable (the cheapest on our list)
  • Nimble mop head that cleans even the most awkward locations
  • The mops are washable up to 100 times

Cons

  • No spray bottle. You’ll have to use a handheld one
  • The mop sometimes struggles to fit in place
Bona Premium Microfiber Floor Mop, Includes...
  • Safe for all hardwood and hard-surface floors
  • Durable telescoping mop handle with extra-large mop head
  • Extra-large mop head cleans 40% faster than the leading competitor
  • Rubberized corners to reduce damaging baseboards and furniture

Best Cleaning Potential: Bissell 2747A PowerFresh Steam Mop

Bissell, 2747A PowerFresh Vac & Steam All-in-One...

If money isn’t an issue for you, and you want a mop that does it all in one go, then Bissell PowerFresh Steam Mop is your go-to mop.

With a price that exceeds $180, it costs more than our entire list of mops combined. However, that money won’t go to waste.

Using only water, steam mops work by sanitizing your floor with hot steam, making Bissell the only mop on our list to use steam in its cleaning.

Additionally, Bissells’s steam mop can be used as a low-profile vacuum cleaner for those tiny bits of debris lying around. Simply detach the mop, and your mop automatically becomes a mini vacuum cleaner.

Besides the price, storing Bissell’s mop proved to be tricky. An electric, bulk mop can be damaged a lot easier than your conventional mop, so keep that in mind as you store it.

Keep in mind that Bissell’s electric mop is the only one on our list without a telescopic handle, which makes it a bit tricky to use for taller people.

Product Specs

  • Type: Electric steam mop
  • Mophead material: Microfiber
  • Suitable for: Linoleum and wood floor
  • Telescopic handle: No

Feature Highlights

  • Steam-powered cleaning for sanitization
  • The ability to control the steam intensity for different situations
  • The purchase comes with a scrubby pad and a detachable mop pad tray

Pros

  • Multipurpose steam-powered mop that both cleans and vacuums your floor
  • You only need water for effective cleaning
  • It dries as it mops, so you won’t need to wait for the water to dry up

Cons

  • Extremely pricey (the most expensive on our list)
  • The absence of a telescopic handle makes it hard to use for taller people
Bissell, 2747A PowerFresh Vac & Steam All-in-One...
  • Vacuum and steam your hard floors at the same time.
  • Sanitize floors using the natural power of steam, eliminating 99. 9% of germs and bacteria.
  • Easy Touch Digital Controls to switch between vacuum, steam or both.
  • Powerful, cyclonic vacuum helps capture dirt and debris.

The Material of the Mop

The manufacturing material of the mop is arguably the most crucial factor when deciding to purchase a mop. Many materials exist, but a microfiber mop is the most reliable, especially for linoleum floors.

Kitchen area was installed with wooden cabinets and laminated flooring, with matching white chairs and a wooden dining table

It’s well-absorbing, long-lasting, and hardly leaves any lint on the floor after you clean. It’s also washable and can last up to a year before replacement.

The Build Quality

Mops are made to be used on a daily basis. If a mop isn’t built from durable materials, it would soon need fixing or replacement, which could cost you extra money in the long run.

Don’t be fooled by the low price of some products; always look for the catch before buying them.

The Accessories

Do you want a plain mop, or do you want a bottle-supported or electric-powered mop? Many designs and features are available in the market.

You have to find the balance between the available budget, the features you need, and the ability of the mop to provide those features.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is the Best Way to Clean Mops?

A gentle cycle at a high temperature should do the trick if your mops are machine washable. If the mop isn’t machine washable, mix water and bleach using a 50:50 ratio and soak the mop head inside for 15 minutes. Once done, clean and rinse the mop head until the water underneath runs clear.

Can You Mop Without Sweeping?

It’s not recommended to mop a floor full of dirt before sweeping it. The dust and debris will clog together and create a lint-like brown material that sticks to surfaces. Whenever you see visible debris, it’s always better to sweep before mopping.

How Often Should You Change Mop Heads?

The answer to that question varies depending on your cleaning, but on average, mops should be swapped once every three months. Mops gather bacteria even if you clean them constantly. With time, the cleaning won’t be enough to remove all the bacteria from the mop.

You’ve Reached the End

Those were our top 4 mop reviews that will ensure that your floor stays clean with minimum effort. Get the Rubbermaid mop if you want an overall great mob that ticks most of the boxes.

O-Cedar and Bona mops are more budget-friendly options that still do a great cleaning job.

The electric Bissell steam mop should satisfy your needs if you have an open budget and want a cleaning powerhouse.
